Weitergabe

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

In short

The Kassensturz app stores your data only on your iPhone. There is no account, no server, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics. We never receive any of your data from the app. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third-party servers.

2. The app

What the app processes – on your device only

  • Transactions, budgets, categories, tags, places, cards, subscriptions and split bills that you enter or that your Shortcuts automation passes to the app (e.g. after an Apple Pay payment: amount, merchant, card name). They are stored in the app on your iPhone.
  • Location (only with your permission): to save where a payment happened, create places and show you on the map. iOS looks up addresses and place names using Apple’s map service, which sends the coordinates to Apple. When you search for a place or view a map, iOS also sends the search term or map area and your approximate location to Apple (Apple Maps). Apple’s privacy policy applies.
  • Camera and photos (only when you scan a receipt or pick a photo): the text is read on your iPhone using iOS text recognition. Images are neither stored nor transmitted.
  • Notifications (only with your permission): the app schedules local notifications on your iPhone, e.g. after a payment or at the end of the month.

Sharing

The app does not pass any data to us. Only the map requests to Apple mentioned above go to a third party. Apart from that, only when you share something yourself – such as the CSV export or the text of a split bill – is it sent to the destination you choose.

Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Deleting the app deletes all its data. It is included in your iPhone backups if you make backups.

Purchase via the App Store

Purchase, download and updates are handled by Apple’s App Store; Apple’s privacy policy applies. If you have agreed in iOS Settings to share with app developers, Apple provides us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. These never contain data from the app, such as your transactions.

3. This website

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by [hosting provider, address]. When you visit, the provider automatically processes data sent by your browser: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the website and protect it against attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted after [retention period stated by the provider]. [We have a data processing agreement with the provider (Art. 28 GDPR). – keep only once the agreement is signed; if the host is outside the EU, state the basis for the transfer here]

No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools and loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers.

Language choice

If you switch the language, your browser remembers this choice in your device’s local storage. The page also adds it to the address and to links to our other pages (?lang=…), so it reaches our server as well. It is only used to show the page in your language (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Links to the App Store

The “Download on the App Store” buttons lead to Apple. Your browser only connects to Apple once you tap one; Apple’s privacy policy then applies.

4. Contacting us by email

If you write to us, we process your email address and message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete them as soon as they are no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

5. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77). Data from the app stays with you on your device – we can’t provide information about it because we don’t have it. If you have questions, contact us at the address above.

Right to object

Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (server logs, email enquiries), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR).
